Abstract:
Dr. Prabhat Kumar’s interdisciplinary research integrates Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), Cybersecurity, Blockchain, and Federated/Edge Computing to enhance the security and resilience of critical domains such as Industrial IoT, smart healthcare, and cyber-physical systems. His research spans three key areas: AI and ML for IoT and Network Security: He designs AI-driven cybersecurity frameworks for securing IoT and networked environments, focusing on deep learning and federated learning–based intrusion detection systems (IDS) to identify and mitigate cyber threats. His work also incorporates explainable AI (XAI) to enhance the transparency and trustworthiness of security decisions. Privacy-Enhancing Techniques: He explores privacy-preserving mechanisms such as synthetic data generation via structured perturbation, federated learning, and blockchain-based secure communication. In this talk, he will present an overview of his research journey, major contributions, and future directions aimed at building secure, interpretable, and trustworthy intelligent systems.
Bio:
Dr Prabhat Kumar is a Docent in AI for Cybersecurity and is working with the Department of Software Engineering at LUT University, Finland. He received his Ph.D. in Information Technology from NIT Raipur, India, and has extensive experience working on cybersecurity challenges in distributed and intelligent systems. His research focuses on AI-driven intrusion detection, federated learning, explainable AI, blockchain security, and privacy-preserving computation. Dr. Kumar has been actively involved as co-principal investigator and work package lead in several CHIST-ERA / Academy of Finland and HORIZON-funded projects. He has published over 60 peer-reviewed articles in high-impact venues and contributes to the scientific community as a reviewer, editor, and technical program committee member for leading journals and conferences. At LUT, he also established “ChainLab,” a research lab focused on AI and blockchain-integrated cybersecurity solutions.
