Info about event

Time

Friday 14 April 2023,  at 13:00 - 14:00

Location

Finlandsgade 22, 5125-430

Abstract:

In the respective talk, background information related to the research area of 2D semiconductor materials, specifically TMDs-based thin-film electronic devices, will be presented, along with research interests and expertise. Related research accomplishments during my PhD course and postdoctoral tenure will then be discussed, focusing on research work related to Field Effect Transistor Devices such as phototransistors, photodetectors and high-speed TFTs, as well as research work with memory devices such as memristors and floating gate memory based 2D and oxide semiconductor materials and their overall application in artificial intelligence (AI) devices. The current ongoing projects, including independent and co-leading projects such as the Samsung Electronics Research Project focused on IGZO-based memristors for neural network simulation, the National Research Foundation project aimed at developing a 3D Monolithic Artificial Visual Neural Network System based on Te-MoS2 semiconductor devices, and the Brain-Korea-21 Research Project that involves 3D Monolithic CMOS devices for logic operation and co-leading projects related to 2D materials based electronic devices, will also be discussed. Future research directions (Next-Generation AI Semiconductor devices) as an assistant in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Aarhus University, along with the funding acquisition plan and teaching expertise, will be presented. The presentation will conclude with a Q&A session where the audience will be able to ask questions about the related research, future plans, and interests.

Bio:

I, Muhammad Naqi, earned my B.Sc. degree in Electronics Engineering from Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology in Karachi, Pakistan, in 2016. In 2021, I completed my Ph.D. in Advanced Materials Science and Engineering from Sungkyunkwan University. Since 2021, I have been serving as a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Advanced Materials Science and Engineering at Sungkyunkwan University, where my primary research interests include memory/logic devices, artificial synaptic devices, transition metal dichalcogenide-based thin-film transistors, photodevices, and flexible/stretchable electronic sensors and devices. In 2020, I was recognized with the Best Researcher Award (Gold) from the Brain-Korea 21 (BK-21) project in the Department of Advanced Materials Science and Engineering, and I have also earned several conference awards and nominations. Additionally, I am currently acting as a co-guest editor for the special issue of Materials Today Electronics titled "The Frontier 2D Materials for Advanced Electronic Devices." To date, I have authored and co-authored multiple SCI papers, including publications in IEEE Transactions, IEEE journals, Advanced Functional Materials, Wiley journals, npj Nature Electronics, and npg Nature Communications.
