Work environment

At ECE, we attach great importance to a good working environment. That is why we strive to create a diverse, equal and inclusive environment where both employees and students thrive, develop and think in new innovative ways.

On this page you can read more about the working environment at ECE, our local working environment committee, workplace culture, find links to relevant pages, etc.

To create an inclusive environment, we recognize the need to respect individual boundaries, respectful communication and awareness of the prejudices that surround us in our daily lives.

Creating a working environment characterized by diversity, equality and inclusion (DEI) requires time and effort and does not just happen overnight.

Training and education of ECE employees

ECE has taken several initiatives to achieve our goal of creating a workplace characterized by diversity, equality and inclusion (DEI).

LAMU and LSU (union representatives, work environment representatives and management representatives) have been trained and taught in DEI, but also in dealing with offensive and inappropriate behaviour. All employees have also been trained.

Focus on diversity, equity and inclusion

Our success depends on us collectively being aware of behavior or actions that are not in accordance with what ECE wants. We all have a responsibility to:

  • speak up - if you yourself experience being violated by offensive behaviour, or if you witness it
  • help a student or an employee who experiences offensive behavior.

Our focus is not on pointing fingers. Rather, we want to learn together. Therefore, we would greatly appreciate getting your help if you see or experience inappropriate or transgressive behavior. It will help us see patterns of challenges, small as well as larger. And that will help us act and create a more inclusive working environment.

You can always contact your manager, trade union representative or working environment representative for a confidential conversation.
