Eulogy for Associate Professor Henning Hargaard

It is with great sadness that we announce that our dear colleague, associate professor Henning Hargaard, passed away peacefully on 16 October 2024 after long-term illness.

Henning has for many years been a central part of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at Aarhus University. He joined Aarhus School of Engineering in July 1988 as an associate professor and later continued his career at ECE.

Henning was a skillful and well-liked teacher who always met students with a twinkle in his eye and a genuine interest in their development. His teaching style was characterised by clarity, patience and a rare presence that made him very popular with the students. He had a special ability to create a safe and inclusive learning environment where students felt seen and heard. Many remember him for his ability to make complex topics accessible and interesting, and not least for his warm humour that often brought a smile to the classroom.

As a colleague, Henning was valued for his calm and thoughtful nature. He was always ready with a kind word or a helping hand, and his warm humour made him a valued part of the community. He was a trusted colleague who contributed to a good working environment.

Henning will be remembered fondly by students and colleagues alike, and we send our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones.

Honoured be Henning's memory.

Sincerely yours
Mikael Bergholz Knudsen
